I'm happy with what the Canucks did on the first day of Free Agency yesterday. They tried an offer sheet for David Backes although it got matched quickly, they gave a embarrassingly large 2-year/$20 Million contract offer to Mats Sundin, and, in what I believe was the best deal of the day, signed a goon.
Darcy Hordichuk. Born in Kamsack, played junior hockey for the Saskatoon Blades, he got 60 minutes in penalties last year with Nashville, all of them coming from fights.
I don't know if the Canucks ever had a player as tough as he is. Except for Kevin Bieksa, but that is because I put him in tons of fights on NHL 07.
