I'm too old for rides...

I was at the first day of Frontier Days 2008, where the deal of the day was rides for no more than $2.00 each. I decided to take a couple last night, and I am starting to regret it.

After taking "Zero Gravity", I could not walk straight. I was the one on "1001 Nights" who screamed the loudest. I bought 6 tickets and gave the last two to my co-worker in the mobile studio, (he owes me, by the way).

At least there was one thing I was happy about. I enjoyed my first-ever corn dog.

Yes. I have never had one until yesterday, and I have been surrounded by them most of my life. I remember my old elementary school in Eyebrow had a functional food servery within the school that was open daily and stocked various pre-packaged foods including corn dogs. I have always wanted one at that time, but the servery was located on one end of the school (right next to the gymnasium and the high school wing), and my schoolroom was the last room on the opposite end of the school. By the time I got over there for lunch, all that was left were the boring potato chips.

That was 13 years ago. I don't even buy Pogos from the grocery store either. So getting a $4.00 carnie corn dog yesterday was a big thing for me. A hot dog on a wooden stick with the bun fried on. After trying it, it's not really all that special, but still delicious and I'm glad I tried it.
But there's one thing I won't try. The crooked carnie games. I'm never any good at them anyway.

Corn dogs are the gateway drug to funnel cakes. Do you have those up in the Great White North?

We do, but they're more in the form of Elephant Ears.

I heard over East (mostly Ontario) Elephant Ears are better known as Beaver Tails...
